Scholarship
State Representative John Zerwas and on behalf of TextMyMLS.com Randy Smith
have teamed together to award the Business Leadership Scholarship to Chris
Cermin. Chris is a 2008 graduate of Cinco Ranch High School in Katy.Chris
was active in athletics at Cinco Ranch High School playing basketball and
football. He was a member of the varsity football team’s leadership council
and starting defensive back.He was also a member of the Future Business Leaders
of America (FBLA) for 4 years and served as Vice President of Community Service
during his junior and senior year.Chris organized student volunteers and
participated in many community events such as the Cinco Ranch Triathlon,
American Heart Association Relay for Life, Katy Rice Festival, Krause Center
for Disadvantaged Youths, Katy Christian Ministries Santa’s Sleigh, Katy Rotary
Fun Run, and coaching youth football.In 2008, he helped lead the Cinco Ranch High
School UIL Accounting Team to a first place finish in district competition where
he placed 2nd overall.Chris will attend the University of Houston where he will
pursue an advanced degree in the Professional Program in Accounting (PPA).

From Going green is not just
politically correct. It's smart business.
"The paper airline ticket comes to the end of its life on Sunday when 240
carriers belonging to the world association IATA switch to all electronic
ticketing, much of it through Internet booking. IATA members account for 94
percent of world airline traffic and by the end of February, 94 percent of
them had already abandoned the rectangle of stiff paper in favour of digital
technology. In Africa, 87 percent of IATA airlines had made the switch. The
last paper tickets will be sold on Saturday, and the International Air
Transport Association estimates that its member airlines will save three
billion dollars (1.9 billion euros) a year, a much needed economy in the
face of a huge rise in fuel costs. "From June 1, no travel agent will be
able to issue a paper ticket," an IATA spokesman said. However, paper tickets
issued before the deadline will still be valid for the travel dates indicated
on them. The issue and handling of a paper ticket costs an airline 10 dollars:
its electronic replacement one dollar on average. IATA also calculates that
the end of the paper ticket will save 50,000 trees per year."
